 Am I on 2D or 2A ?? needing Help
« Thread Started on Aug 11, 2009, 8:54pm »

Hi All- I'm a newbie to this- English - now living in Falkensee, just outside of Berlin. I bought a 1,85 dish from Maplins, (Digistar) a Prime Focus "Invacom"-uni-single- and a Pace BskyNB 2200 box- I get BBC Parliament & BBC NEWS and a lot of other free channels with good reception except BBC 1-2-3 and ITV channels- The question is-I'm not sure if I'm on Astra 2D or 2A as I read somewhere that BBC Parliament is not transmitted on 2D ?? can anyone please help ??

Looks like you bought the FortecStar 1.8m dish from Maplin for £99?
You will find many complaints on the quality of this dish on this forum.
It's not quite as bad as the 2.4m Fortecstar.
You are indeed on Astra 2 but are only receiving 2A and 2B.
The receiver you are using is probably the least sensitive one Pace ever made, you ought to change it.
You probably have not set the skew correctly on the LNB. It has to be rotated slightly, and the outer ring on the feedhorn has to be 3 or 4 mm from the front of the tube.
Sorry to be negative, it would have been better to ask here before buying.

Thanks for your reply- yes I got the Maplin deal for 99 pounds- and they took 2 months to deliver!
I got the info of what kit I should buy from a friend of a friend- but like anything new, it's learning by doing that counts. I can look out for another sat receiver- would you have any advice about what model works best for picking up 2D over here?-I appreciate you help- Thanks

Best are the two Humax HD Freesat models, next best is the Pace 2600 CI which you will have to get secondhand on eBay.
All three models which give vastly better results than the ageing Pace 2200.

If you want to know if your getting 2A or 2D an easy way which I used is to look up the program your seeing in the internet , for instance I am getting a clear picture of Brit Asia TV and that is on 2A.

Bye

If you look a bit further down the main 2D forum list, you will see a topic called "Dishes". Have a look in there, our member "SATDX" keeps posting lots of good secondhand dishes from Germany.
