 reception puzzle
« Thread Started on Aug 23, 2009, 7:12pm »

Dish with twin LNB. One tv gets C4 with a perfect picture the other C4 picture keeps breaking up, all other channels no problems at all. The good picture is with an old sky box and old TV. Bad one is with the new type box and new TV. Both are pace boxes

The TVs won't be the problem so they can remain unmoved.

Are they both Digiboxes? Which models are they? You might find that the older oner is has a more sensitive tuner.

Next, do they both have cards and are they from the same region? If not swap them around and see if the problem follows.

Net, swap the Pace boxes around and see if the problem moves with the box. If not move the boxes back.

Next is more difficult. At the dish end swap the cables over on the LNB and see if the problem moves. If it does it's the cable, if not it's the LNB or box itself

If at all possible, try running a new temporary coax lead from the Pace to the LNB trying one output and then the other.

A lot of faffing about but but it's practically zero cost.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

If the new box is a Pace 440 or 445 (see label underneath), this wil be the cause. Both of these newer Pace boxes have poor tuners and are not recommended for use outside the UK. Older Pace models Pace 430n and 2600 CI are much better and give good results in mainland Europe.

In Spain: Prodelin 1.8m offset, Invacom QDF-031/ChannelMaster feedhorn. Lacuna/Wolsey V3 meter. In UK: Pace 2600CI, Humax Freesat HDR, Thomson SKY+ HD
