Hello there, I am Andy from Peine, Germany N:52° 19' 57"/E:10° 16' 03" . I have a question regarding my Hauppauge Nexus-S + win-tv cam pci-card receiver. Which software is the best to receive the BBC and ITV channels and the red button content? I want to turn my dish for the Northwest 200 races in the middle of May but am not sure because race day will be shown live on red button and the question is wether there is a software to tune them in.

IMHO: The best Software would be some form of Linux w/VDR, which was made for that Card! I ~think~ it might work under XP with the older Driver Model, but as I'm sure you know by now it doesn't work w/MCE. In short you don't even need to think about Vista or Windows 7. Those versions will end badly BSOD!
Sadly if you want MHEG5 (i.e. "Red Button"), you'll have to buy a STB (Sky or Freesat), that supports it. AFAIK there is no software beit under Windows or Linux that can decode MHEG5 Teletext.

Right, here we go. Partly reception report, partly report on used hardware.
I only have a 60cm dish available at the moment. That gives absolutely no weather reserve. The slightest bit of drizzle and Astra 2D stations like the BBC & ITV channels are not receivable.
First receiver used was a Humax PR-Fox. It works good but when it comes to the red button channels it goes on strike. It simply doesn't show the red button channels. Not after automic search and not after manual search. No chance to watch a red button channel with this receiver.
Second receiver used was the WinTV Nexus-S card with both original WinTV and Progdvb software under Windoze XP. Here the software finds the red button channels imediatly but both devices do not allow selecting via remote. The seven channels, called stream 0 to stream 6 in both instances, can be selected seperately anyway as they show up in the listings.
I have thoroughly enjoyed ITV4's IOM TT coverage as well as BTCC and MotoGP races so far. A true highlight so far was the theme night on BBC4 about former British Formula 1 world champions in June.
As I don't have the biggest dish I think that 100-120cm dish would give the needed weather reserve in my location.
Cheers, Andy
